This privacy statement describes the types of personal information we obtain and how we use the information that we collect about you through the Koven Technology website operated by Koven Technology, Inc. based in the United States.  This privacy statement does not apply to foreign or domestic dealers/distributors of Koven/Hadeco products.  Privacy statements held by dealers/distributors of Koven/Hadeco products should be obtained through those individual companies. 

The Koven website may provide links to other third-party websites and features, or contain third-party cookies that are not owned or controlled by Koven.  We are not responsible for the privacy practices of third parties, which are subject to their respective privacy policies. This privacy statement is intended for all users of the Koven website, including those in the EU who are subject to GDPR privacy standards.

What information do we collect about you?

The information we collect and how it is used depends on what you do when visiting our website.  Non-personal information (information that does not identify you personally) is used differently than personal information.
Personal information collected via Koven’s website may include:

  • First and last name
  • Employment facility and job title
  • Address, telephone, email address, or other contact information
  • Serial number of your Koven/Hadeco product
  • IP (Internet Protocol) address when such address is associated with a specific user
  • Other personal data you provide with you submit a request, such as through email

We collect personal information in the following ways:

  • When you enter personal information on certain pages of the website.  For example, when you fill out a form.
  • When you send us an email.
  • Through web analytics services, including Google Analytics, which use cookies and similar technologies to collect data (such as IP addresses) to evaluate use of and interaction with Koven’s website. Please note that providing personal information to us is voluntary on your part.  If you choose not to provide us certain information, we may not be able to offer you certain products or services.

How we use Cookies

Cookies allow small amounts of information about your device to be passed to the web server and enable websites to recognize your computer, smartphone, tablet or other device as you browse. How we use your personal information

We may use the information that you have shared with us through the Koven website for the following purposes:

Koven may also use your personal information to achieve the following legitimate interests, provided they are compatible with your rights and expectations of privacy.

  • To perform data analysis (such as trend analysis and customer segmentation), for the such purposes as market research, improving programs, products, services, or content, evaluating user preferences, or improving our website.
  • To anonymize your information by removing personal identifies so that it may be used for other purposes.  In this case, the anonymized information would no longer identify you and may be treated as non-personal information.  For details on how we use non-personal information see the section Non-personal information.

  • To protect our rights or property

Koven may also use your personal information on the basis of the following legal grounds:

  • As necessary to protect the health, safety or welfare of an individual
  • To comply with a law, regulation, court order or other legal process

Koven will process personal information as described above based on your consent to do so.  Consent will be obtained by choosing the agree option on the bottom of all fillable website forms indicating that you have read and agree to the terms of this privacy statement.  By sending a request via email, you are also acknowledging that you agree to the terms of this privacy statement.

Where required by law, we will ask you to “opt-in” or affirmatively consent to the processing of your personal data for a particular purpose.  For example, were the law so requires, we will only send you promotional/marketing communications via email if you have opted in to receive such communications.

Sharing of your personal information

We do not sell, trade or otherwise disclose personal information about you except as described here or at the time of collection.

  • We may share your personal information within Koven Technology, Inc. and when necessary, its subsidiary Koven Technology Canada Inc. for the purposes described in this privacy statement.
  • We may share your personal data with service providers or suppliers we have retained to perform services on our behalf.   In these cases, we may provide the vendor with the personal information necessary to perform that specific service.
  • We may share your personal data with dealers/distributors of Koven/Hadeco products domestically or outside the US in the case that Koven does not service Koven/Hadeco products in your area/country. In this case, personal data is only shared for the purposes set out in this privacy policy (for example, to receive requested product information and perform subsequent follow up.   In cases where personal information is transmitted from Europe to other countries, we will ensure that safeguards equivalent to those provided by European data protection laws are in place. 
  • Use a third party application or platform to allow us to manage and keep track of our communications with you.

In all cases, we will not share more information than is necessary, and we will not authorize any third parties to keep, disclose, or use your information except to provide the requested services in line with the purposes set above.

Please note that subject to applicable laws, we may disclose your personal information if we believe we are required to do so to comply with any law, regulation, court order, legal or government request.  In the unlikely event that all or part of our business is acquired by a third party, your information may be transferred to the new corporate owner, insofar as relevant to the business in question and subject to appropriate safeguards being in place.

In addition, we may use and disclose your personal information to third parties if necessary to:

  • Enforce this privacy statement and the other rules about your use of this website
  • Protect our rights or property
  • To protect the health, safety or welfare of an individual
  • To comply with a law, regulation, court order or other legal process

Processing of sensitive information

Sensitive information, such as information relating to your health, genetic or biometric data, racial or ethnic origin, religious or philosophical beliefs, sexual orientation, political opinions, or trade union affiliation are not collected by Koven.

Non-personal information

Non-personal information is information that cannot identify you or be tied to you in any way.  Therefore, non-personal information collected through the Koven website does not identify you as an individual personal and will not be linked to you.  Examples of non-personal information include:

  • The type of web browser you use (i.e. internet explorer)
  • The domain name from which you access the internet
  • The internet address of the website from you linked to our website
  • The date and time you accessed our website
  • The pages you visited on our website
  • The search terms you used to access our website
  • The links on our website that you click

If you access our website to obtain or download information, such as information about our products, we may collect certain non-personal information from your computer.  This information is collected from your computer’s web browser.  If you only read or download information on our website, we do not collect or learn your name, e-mail address, mailing address, or any other personal information about you. 

What does Koven do with non-personal information?

Koven uses your non-personal information to:

  • Perform analytics which are used for the purposes of improving our website
  • Evaluate marketing and promotional efforts
  • Create reports for internal use to develop programs, products, services or content, improve information or services provided
  • Collect information on how our site is used, such as statistics on traffic and user responses.
Direct marketing & education

Please note that if you opt not to receive promotional messages from us, we may still continue to send you relevant information for other lawful purposes, such as to administer any account you may have with us, to respond to your request, to execute agreements with your or to provide you with information that Koven is required by law to provide (for example, product recalls).

How long is personal information stored?

To the extent permitted by applicable law, we retain the personal information we obtain about you as long as (1) it is needed for the purposes for which we obtained it, in accordance with the provisions of this privacy statement or (2) we have another lawful basis, stated in this privacy policy or at the point of collection, for retaining that information beyond the period for which it is necessary to serve the original purpose for obtaining the personal information.

Children's personal information

Koven's website is not directed to children under the age of 16.  We do not knowingly collect or solicit personal information from children under the age of 16 through Koven's website.  If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a child under the age of 16, we will promptly delete the information from our records. If you believe that a child under the age of 16 may have provided us with personal information, please contact us as specified in the “How to contact us” section of this privacy statement.

Changes to the privacy statement

The privacy statement may be revised at any time and for any reason and without prior notice to you to reflect changes in our information practices.  The date of the most recent update will appear at the top of this privacy statement.

Privacy on other websites

This website may contain links to other third-party websites.  This privacy statement does not apply to other websites.  Therefore, whenever you leave the Koven website, we recommend that you review the privacy practices that apply to information you provide on other websites.  We provide the links for your convenience, but we do not review, control, or monitor the privacy practices of websites operated by others.  Neither are we responsible for websites operated by third parties or your business dealings with them.

Your rights

At any time, you may exercise your right to access, rectify, or erase any personal information relating to you, or restrict the processing of your personal information, in compliance with applicable laws.

To the extent provided by the law of your jurisdiction, you may have the right to (1) access certain personal information we maintain about you; (2) request that we update, correct, amend, erase, or restrict your personal information; or (3) exercise your right to data portability.  Where provided by law, you may withdraw consent you previously provided to us or object at any time to the processing of your personal information on legitimate grounds relating to your particular situation, and we will apply your preferences going forward as appropriate.
